Neil Lyndon will be attending the conference

We’re pleased to report that Neil Lyndon, journalist and author of No More Sex War: The Failures of Feminism (1992), will be attending the conference, and hopes to report from the event for a mainstream media outlet.

In 2014 Neil published Sexual Impolitics: Heresies on sex, gender and feminism, a collection of his writings on sex, gender and feminism from 1990-2010. It includes, for the first time, the full unexpurgated, uncensored text of No More Sex War. Warren Farrell’s testimonial for the latest book:

“No More Sex War remains one of the most important and courageous books of our time, accurately locating the minefields on the path to genuine male-female equality and love. With hindsight, the story in Sexual Impolitics of Neil Lyndon’s excommunication when he revealed that the world of feminism was flat is as revealing as the Catholic church’s response to Galileo.”

Paul Elam unable to attend the July conference, on health grounds

I was contacted this afternoon by Paul Elam, and he later penned this email, which is published here with his permission:

Dear Mike,

I am writing to inform you, with regrets, that I will not be able to attend the upcoming ICMI18 in London this July. As you know from last year I have been dealing with some medical issues.  Nothing terribly serious, mind you, but which present multiple challenges for travel overseas.

I remain enthusiastic about the event, and I look forward to participating in any way I can from home. Please know that I will be there in spirit with you, J4MB, and all the speakers and attendees.

Regards,

Paul

We’re sorry Paul won’t be joining us, as we’re sure his many other admirers will be, but we wish him well with his medical issues. His presentation at the start of the conference will be by way of a pre-recorded video. Hopefully he’ll be able to attend ICMI19, wherever that will be held.

We’re delighted to report that Will Styles, an MRA and student campaigner at Plymouth University, will be attending the conference. We’ve posted a few pieces about Will, links to them all here. A list of conference attendees who aren’t going to be giving presentations, but who are well-known in the MRM, can he found at the end of the conference speakers’ page. Let us know if you think anyone else should be added to the list. Thanks.

Elizabeth Hobson – Director of Media Relations

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Hobson, a well-known and highly respected activist, to the position of Director of Media Relations, with immediate effect.

Elizabeth is a mother of two boys, and is currently studying for a BA in History and Politics at the Open University. She calls herself an anti-feminist Gender Equality Activist, and she’s worked with Trigger Warning, The Liberty Belles and Ladies for Philip Davies as well as being part of the organising team for the March for Men / Messages for Men conference in London in 2017 and 2018.

Her areas of particular interest include: the family and father’s rights, MGM, feminism and freedom. Elizabeth wants to end the Sex War – artificially constructed by feminists – and pursue a more just society based on Liberal values, such as liberty, equality and meritocracy.

We wish Elizabeth every success in her new role. She can be contacted at [email protected].

The promotional video for the venue where the conference isn’t going to be held

Our thanks to Ken for suggesting we post a link to the promotional video (18:12) for the venue where the July conference was originally scheduled to be held – St Andrew’s Stadium, the home of Birmingham City FC. The venue cravenly capitulated to a feminist campaign to stop the venue hosting ICMI18. The new venue is somewhat superior in so many ways.

Dr Jeffrey Ketland comments on the change from Men’s Rights Movement (MRM) > Gender Equality Movement (GEM)

Dr Jeffrey Ketland will be giving a presentation at the conference, titled, “A feminist witch hunt at Oxford University”. Brief details on Jeffrey are on the conference speakers’ page.

About two weeks ago we posted a blog piece with the snappy title, The case for “Men’s Rights Movement” (MRM) > “Gender Equality Movement” (GEM), and, in turn, “Men’s Rights Activist” (MRA) > “Gender Equality Activist” (GEA)”. We thank Jeffrey for his comments on the matter:

I agree with this, Mike. It’s similar to what I’ve said for about 4 years, since I first heard of MRM when I was hunted down like a some sort of animal in Oxford, by feminist vigilante zealots, in 2014. I think it’s why MRA/MRM cannot gain social & political traction. For, in a battle between MRM and Feminists (who say they advocate equality, though they don’t), feminists will win: this happened every day, for over thirty years. The reason, I’m sure, is gynocentrism, the natural inclination of men and women towards greater value and protection of girls & women. One cannot invert a biological urge with words. One has to counteract the systemic *politics*, *propaganda* and *policies* of feminist anti-egalitarianism, instead of hoping that something that really does exist (gynocentrism) can be made to go away. The policies and propaganda of feminist anti-egalitarianism can be pushed back, so long as the focus is how feminism attacks equality. And vast numbers of the population openly support equal treatment too, as well as being increasingly annoyed with Identity Politics.

In practice, the constant flow and the endless setbacks and defeats are all in the opposition direction, partly because of the basic gynocentric bias in human society. But while gynocentrism is the fuel that drives the tank forwards, feminists cornered the propaganda market in *equality*, and did so despite being obviously an anti-equality movement, even though they say of themselves that they’re in favour of equality. But they’re opposed to equality.

They’re just lying. Therefore, trying to respond with a “Men’s rights movement” makes it look, to a large number of neutral observers, as if that movement is opposed to equality, or even “misogynist”. It looks like it is an Identity-based movement. And this is the central propaganda technique that feminists used to demonize MRAs; it appears in every single article written by feminists. (Notice how this is exactly how people respond to BLM. They respond, rightly, by saying, “Hang on. All lives matter”.)

But this would not be easy if they were attacking GEAs. It undermines their central propaganda advantage. Think of it this way. What is happening? Two things: (1) Saturation level feminist — we believe in “gender equality” — Identity Politics propaganda/policies. And (2) gynocentrism, the fuel. But (2) cannot be changed. It’s as biological as having two legs. On the other hand, the propaganda is false and can be challenged, and can be defeated.

So I do think moving over to “Gender Equality Activist” is a strategic shift in the right direction.

A connected reason is that it also undermines the Identity Politics of feminism too: for feminism is group-based activism, and not based on universal, equal rights for all. And pointing out, “Men are mistreated, vilified, domestically abused, falsely accused, imprisoned, etc.” has little traction in practice – because, though it is true, the truth here doesn’t strongly impact people’s minds; the primary gynocentric bias works in the opposition direction. So an Identity Politics based on male group identity is doomed never to take off. In fact, feminists make more and more progress on that, every day. On the other hand, there is strong widespread sympathy for equality, as all polls show, whether from the Left, or the centre and conservatives. There is also growing dissatisfaction with Identity Politics.

Dr Catherine Hakim, originator of Preference Theory, to attend the conference

We’re delighted to report that Dr Catherine Hakim, a world-renowned British sociologist, will be attending the conference.

She’s best known to followers of this website as the originator of Preference Theory in 2000, when she was a Senior Research Fellow at the LSE. For us, the key statistics she reported in her paper were that four in seven British men are “work-centred”, while just one in seven British women is.

All else being equal, we’d expect the gender balance on (say) FTSE100 boards to be around 80% male, 20% female. But all else is far from equal. Two thirds of private sector employees are men, and men still occupy most of the senior positions in professions which disproportionately lead to board directorships, notably Finance. Adding in these factors, we’d expect women to take up fewer than 5% of FTSE100 directorships. Due to government threats of legislated gender quotas, women now occupy over 25% of those positions, and the figure continues to rise. Tellingly, more than 90% of female FTSE100 board directors are Non-Executive Directors.

In late 2012 my request to give oral evidence on behalf of Campaign for Merit in Business to the House of Commons inquiry “Women in the Workplace” was accepted, and at my request I was accompanied by Dr Catherine Hakim and Steve Moxon. The video (56:49) is here.

The committee utterly refused to engage with the evidence I presented of a causal link between increasing female representation on boards and corporate financial decline. Three months later we launched J4MB.
